BIG-IP version 4.x does not allow http_content checks on responses. Responses are not being parsed at all (with exception of data necessary in order to detect end of response).

 

 

You may be able to implement your desired behavior by using HTTP monitor with extended contect verification (ECV). HTTP monitors allow to parse server responses and declare nodes up and down based on content. In combination with fallback URL configured on a pool, it may provide just what you need.
