We are currently getting this error when trying to install the management pack:
Failure Message: F5Networks.ManagementPack.Discovery.DiscoveryException: Big 3d update from version 9.3.1.37.0.0 to version 10.0.0.5999.0.0 was not authorized
I have read through the forums, and the notes for install, and I thought you could install this without upgrading the firmware. The scary part to me is that 10.0.0.5999 isn't even available for download outside of this method.
Is there any way to install this management pack without the firmware upgrade? If not is there a list of what all is changed between 9.3.1.37.0.0 to version 10.0.0.5999.0.0.
The F5s here host about 4500 retail outlets so this is not something we can do without extreme testing and knowledge.

The Management Pack does require a one time update of the big3d agent on the Big-IP device, similar to the Enterprise Manager 1.7 release which also deploys an updated big3d. The big3d agent is shared between Gtm, Em, and the Mp, and testing is done across all three.
Unfortunately, there is no way to discover a device without the device having a big3d agent at version 10.0.0.5999.0.0 or greater. That said, the only update made to the device is the big3d agent, and no other parts of the firmware are modified.
The specific changes made to big3d include:
- additional iQuery protocol enhancements to support stat and health collection
- fixes to memory leaks in the agent
- stability improvements to the agent
