Monitor a Client that connects to a vip
I would like to monitor a client that connects to VIP. The client is the CUPS Server which connects to VIP and then RR to one pool member.
We have VIP/port and pool members/port same port. Our monitor on the pool is on different ports. Our vendor isn't allowing us to monitor on the same port as the VIP and the pool. So i am wondering if there might be some type of iRule to check this on a client connection. We tried to set up a second monitor on the same port as the server and vip; however it closed the port on the server. It seems the server only allows one connection to the server using the port.
We are using the default TCP monitor

it might be me but you seems to mixing the term monitor here, are you talking about a health monitor to determine if the pool member is up?
in that case you might want to use an inband monitor, it will check the client traffic and if that fails the pool member is marked as down. it won't detect failures before actual client traffic is seen but it feels like an option.
