done load balancing 2 web servers. during the test, if i view the web page directly from the box, i can see the page with image correctly. but if via the VIP (F5), the image is missing.

did you check the site config on both boxes?. F5 load balances connections thus several objects of the page are requested form different server. May be one of your servers is no well configured. If you checked the page first directly to the server an then the f5 and get that behavior, may be the environment config (routing) is not working at all. Try adding a SNAT automap on the corresponding VS.

Adding to HHeredia's suggestions, you can disable all pool members but one and cycle through them to see if only one or a few is affected. If all are missing the image, are you perhaps changing the URI scheme through the F5 proxy? If you take a client side capture (Fiddler, IEWatch, etc.) you should be able to see the references to the image objects in the HTML.
