I didn't see anything in the guide that addresses this "reverse proxy issue", and I can't speak for the WAS8.5 configuration, but at the very least I believe you can integrate a stream iRule to replace values in the response payload. Take a look at the STREAM::expression wiki page for some great examples of how to do this.
