LTM health monitor pool member down

What are the possible reasons because of which the health monitor marks a pool member down?

 

example: Offline(enabled)- pool member has been marked down by a monitor

 

I understand it normally happens if the member server is down. i am trying to understand all the other possibilities.

    Hello Amarz,

     

    You have many possibilities :

     

    • the node is marked down by its monitor (by default it is icmp)
    • the pool member is marked down by its monitor (set on pool member level)
    • the pool member is marked down by the monitor configured on the pool that it is part too (set on pool level)* finally, the "Receive Disable String" if received by your monitor it will set the "node" or "pool member" to "disabled" (depending on where it is configured, if it is on node's monitor or pool member's monitor)
