Logging virtual server state event up or down
I'm having a bit of curiosity, i can see a log at /var/log/ltm when a pool or pool member up/down.
May 22 14:46:53 slot1/lb01 notice mcpd[5902]: 01070638:5: Pool xxxxxxxx member /Common/10.2.203.130:5057 monitor status down. [ was up for 0hr:1min:15sec ]
But i cannot find any log when a Virtual server state is up or down. Is it just me or there isn't any event like that? or is there any way to create the event?
Thanks
Fadhil
- John_Matlock_42NimbostratusThe virtual itself shouldn't ever be down unless you disable it. There is an ltm log entry when all members of a pool go offline, and if this pool is the only resource for the virtual then it is essentially down.
- vaibhavCirrostratusYes unless and util you dont have all pool members down you wont see a virtual going down..

HI John,I have one question . I was working on one issue found tha VIP has 2 nodes , showing inactive, down but nodes were still taking traffic .Once i disabled the node manually , then they stopped taking traffic.
Any reason behind this ?
Thanks,
Deepak
- nitassEmployeeshowing inactive, down but nodes were still taking traffic do you know if it was existing connection before node was marked down?
- DMA_95966Nimbostratusyes... it had existing traffic.
