Log path
One thing we are looking at is useing more of the logging fuctions. Is there a way to send the log out put to another file. So we could log some of our bigger hit apps to there own log instead of the ...

As far as I know you'll have to tweak the syslog settings and use an updated facility for your log calls.
log [.] message
I'm by no means an expert on syslog configurations, but I'm sure you can find something out there on the web on how to do it. The configuration is in the /etc/syslog-ng/syslog-ng.conf file.
Just make sure you backup the original file before you start tweaking with it. Also, I'm not sure if this file is part of the configuration save so you may have to roll your updates on your own with upgrades. You can check with product technical support on that issue.
