There are two types of policies shown: 1. [Virtual Server Name] 2. asm_auto_l7_policy_[Virtual Server Name]
What is the difference between them?
One thing I noted whether you create a policy and assing VS to it or directly assign the VS at the time of creation the asm_auto_l7_policy_[Virtaul Server Name] automatically created.

And you have answered your own question, sort of.
When you create an ASM policy and link it directly to a virtual, ASM will automatically create a simple L7 Policy called asm_auto_l7_policy_... that links the ASM policy to the virtual.
However, you can manually create a more complex L7 Policy that makes decisions about whether to apply policy or forward traffic to replace the automatically generated policy to meet your own requirements.
