Load balancing Lync 2013 Persistent Chat Pool

Hello All,

I am in middle of Lync 2013 deployment and just finished installing 2 persistent chat servers, i have been searching but can't find any documentation on using f5 to load balance Persistent Chat Pool. The only article i was able to find published by Microsoft says to use DNS load balancing here - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj205391.aspx

Technically Persistent chat pool listens on TCP 5041 as per the topology builder wondering if a simple vip for 5041 will work... Any ideas?

    Hi,

Persistent Chat 5041 isn't listed as a required HLB port for Lync 2013, which is why there's not documentation about it: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg398833.aspx

I haven't tried load balancing it yet, but I will test it and add it to the list of feature requests to the solution (if it works, of course).

    thanks

    Mike

  • I ended up using DNS load-balancing for my Persistent chat pool, its working just fine.
