LC sync problem

Hi all,

I have 2 bigip with LC and LTM installed.

I made some LC configuration on Active equipment and all seems to be working good.

Link, Inbound WideIP, all green !

Then i realize that when i syncronized the configuration by the HA tab, it didnt sync the LC configurations.

I have read somewhere that i had to run the gtm_add script on the unconfigured equipment, which it was what i did.

The configurations were imported, an i think it was it.

I disconnect from the system, and when i come back i realize i had all the objects from LC with RED colour.

The message in the Link tab, is:

"Offline (Enabled) - Link ISP_Colt: Monitor bigip_link from gtmd : no reply from big3d: timed out"

I know someone of you will point me the SOL5663, but i have already check it out, and cant found any problem.

Can anyone help me resolving this problem ?

Best Regards,

Bruno Petrónio

  • Hi Bruno,

Have you managed to solve the problem, i have the same problem here.

    Thank You,

    George

  • Hi George,

I resolve my issue changing the portlockdown setting for the non-floating self ip address's.

"Controllers use their external IP addresses to synchronize the configuration objects listed under the "Link Controller" section of the webUI as well as the status of the links. This requires ports 22 (at least for the certificate exchange) and 4353 opened on all those IP addresses."

I had change the port lockdown on all self IPs to "allow default" and had run a "bigip_add" on both units.

    Hope it helps.

    My Best Regards,

    Bruno Petrónio

All my self-ip station as "non-float" and "Default port lockdown"

Rodrigo In my experience with lc i have seen 2 main causes for this behavior 1. Faulty gateway not included in the dg pool 2. wideip.conf or gtm.conf missing link configuration Im currently out of the office if you like i can walk you through the fix my cell is +506 88735120 or i can send you info once i get back to the office. Regards Pablo
  • Dear Pablo,

I await your return to the office, I'm in Brazil and a link would be complicated, or if we use skype.

    1. Did not understand very well what the problem with my default gateway pool, which means "dg"?
    2. Configuration that might be missing in gtm.conf or wideip.conf files?

    Thank you.

  • Can you check big3d version on each box? Is it the same ?

  • Hi, I have the same problem with my links: Offline (Enabled) - Monitor /Common/gateway_icmp from : no reply from big3d: timed out I only have one F5 LC. I have a Laboratory with a switch L3 (IP 192.168.70.1/25 and 192.168.70.129/26) self IPs: 192.168.70.2/26(Vlan12 External) and 192.168.70.130/26 (vlan14 External) and 192.168.70.193/26 (Vlan16 Internal)

I review al the SOL5663, all ok, the bigip_gmt.conf:

    TMSH-VERSION: 11.5.3

    gtm datacenter /Common/Default_DC { } gtm link /Common/Link_COLT { datacenter /Common/Default_DC monitor /Common/gateway_icmp router-addresses { 192.168.70.1 { device-name /Common/Link_COLT } } service-provider COLT uplink-address 192.168.70.2 } gtm link /Common/Link_MOVISTAR { datacenter /Common/Default_DC monitor /Common/gateway_icmp router-addresses { 192.168.70.129 { device-name /Common/Link_MOVISTAR } } service-provider MOVISTAR uplink-address 192.168.70.130 } gtm server /Common/f5.santfeliu.cat { addresses { 195.77.247.155 { device-name 195.77.247.155 } } datacenter /Common/Default_DC monitor /Common/bigip virtual-server-discovery enabled } gtm global-settings metrics { metrics-collection-protocols { icmp } } gtm global-settings metrics-exclusions { addresses none }

    any help please! Thanks.
