large timeout using tdslogin

I would like to use tdslogin (available in the pingers directory) to check the availability of an ORACLE DB.

 

 

Just to test I run the command from command line first :

 

 

tdslogin 192.168.1.1 1521 DB uname password.

 

 

I noticed that when I disconnect the cable of the DB, this command takes 30 secs before indicating timeout. This is to much for my application.

 

 

How can I specify a timeout while using tdslogin ?

 

 

If I specify via GUI the timout for the monitor where this command will be used to 15 secs, will tdslogin then wait fro 15 secs or will it stell wait the full 30 secs ?
