Is this an iControl error? "REJECTING x access to /sbin/insmod iControlPortal..."

We are running 9.3.0 and I noticed the following error in the system logs several times:

REJECTING x access to /sbin/insmod iControlPortal.7310 profile /usr/local/www/iControl/iControlPortal.cgi active /usr/local/www/iControl/iControlPortal.cgi

It is under Service SubDomain.

What concerns me is that no one on the team is using iControl. Is this an incidental error, or was someone with access trying to use that page? This is a different error than a simple failed password to the GUI.

How do I parse this error?

Thanks for any assistance,

Chris

  • Even if your team doesn't use iControl, the system itself (GUI, ConfigSync) use portions of the exposed interfaces to do some things.

This question is probably best suited for Product Technical support since I don't see a solution for this on ask.f5.com and am not to into exactly how we have subdomain setup on 9.3. Support will be best suited to answer this question.
