Is there a list of approved antivirus software that passes the client scan under Mac OS X
My company uses F5 to allow remote connectivity to corporate servers, but the information list of approved antivirus software for Mac users seems woefully out of date.
Example: approved antivirus version Avast 9.x. Currently available version: Avast 11.x.
Example: approved antivirus version Sophos 9.x. Currently available version: Sophos Home 1.1.1

Thanks. I've also seen that list from our IT group. The issue is that it is out of date. Two examples - the Avast Mac Antivirus software (the free version) is up to V11.5; the Sophos Antivirus for Mac (free version) has been completely revamped and is now distributed as "Sophos Home", at V1.1.1.
It seems our IT group is using something like this list to use the F5 package to check the antivirus hygiene of Macs attempting to remote desktop connect to the corporate servers. And it is obviously a drag since the list is out of date, so many Macs (mine included) fail the check because they are running newer versions of the antivirus software.

Dear All,
Kindly use epsec 1.0.0-463.0, I have tested APM access by updating epsec 1.0.0-463.0 and to be honest it really works.
Hope this info will be helpful for you.

APM uses OPSWAT OESIS software to detect the antivirus engine. For Avast mac security 2015 (version 11.x) we have a tracking id (549529) and F5 is following up with OPSWAT to fix it.
Please open a support ticket for both (Avast and Sophos) with the corresponding OESIS diagnostic report. See: SOL11643: Troubleshooting with the OPSWAT OESIS Diagnose tool This will help to file a bug id (in case if it is not already there) and follow up with OPSWAT for fixing it.
Also a customer support ticket will help to upvote the priority of the tracking id.

I'm just a guy on the other side of this issue - meaning that I just use the system as made available by my IT department. But I don't have any account that would allow me to ask for support.

May be you can contact your IT department to file a ticket on this since it will help all the end users like you.
