We need a Wide IP address which provides the IP address of 2 linux servers. I am not planning on using the VIP because the application requirement is that the want the ip address for the linux server...

Generic hosts is the solution to configure such requirement.
create a generic host with the server IP address (with a icmp monitor if required), then create a generic host virtual server with the linux host and the service to monitor. assign to this virtual server the application monitor.
