Is it possible to add a standalone remote server to a GTM pool, along with existing GTM pool members that are LTM Virtual servers
We have a GTM pool that includes members which are LTM virtual servers at two different datacenters, and have a need to add a third pool member that is a remote server not in a datacenter, in order to route client traffic to a closer server. Is this type of config supported by F5, and what is the correct way of adding it. In the pool manage screen it is only looking for virtual servers as members. v 12.1.1 HF 2.

Yes this is possible and supported. You will need to create server/virtual server objects for the new remote server and since gslb servers must be associated with a datacenter you can either assign it to an existing DC or create a new one just for the new server. The primary purpose of a DC is for gtm to decide how to do the monitoring. GTM always wants to use a bigip in the same DC for monitoring but will use remote bigips if required to monitor a server.

Hi,
Topology load balancing distributes DNS name resolution requests based on the proximity of the client to the datacenter that responds to the request. When Topology load balancing is enabled, GTM system uses topology records to make load balancing decisions.
Below are the steps to do topology based LB method.
1) Creation of regions eg : Region_1 and Region_2
2) Creation of pool : Pool_1 and POol_2
3) Creation of Records : Assign the region, pool and weight.
4) Creation of WIDE Ip with topology based load balancing.
