Sep 28, 2005Integrating WebTrends with F5
What's the recommended way to get data into a WebTrends server? Doing a search on F5's site (and Google) turns up a press release dateed 1999 about integration but searching F5's and WebTrends' site find nothing of a technical nature.
Any help here? We're not using the webtrends JavaScript as it doesn't capture anything but executable HTML pages and not other assets (PDF, JPG, et al.)
thanks,
greg

I suspect this dates back to when WebTrends used log analysis vs. Javascript tags to do their reporting...

WebTrends still does log analysis (and is the only way I know of to gather reports on assets that can't host their JavaScript hooks.
Any ideas about log transformations that work best for F5?
Is this something I should file with tech support? If nothing else but to remove the press release so it doesn't mislead. - Brian_Gupta_115

What log formats does webtrends support. BigIP can log to a remote Syslog or Syslog-ng system.
By default Bigip does not log requests. You will need to write an iRule that logs these requests. Should be relatively straightforward. Is there a generic syslog parser that you can customise in webtrends?

If you want help from F5, it would be best to engage their PS team. If you aren't in a super rush, and want to learn iRules. I am willing to help you work through this.
