Oct 19, 2012image2disk --nosaveconfig ... stupid question
Hi,
I'm sure it's obvious, but before I possibly hose the LTM unit, could somebody let me know if the the image2disk --nosaveconfig argument removes the entire configuration - the contents of bigip.conf, bigip_base.conf, bigip_sys.conf, etc or just the contents of the bigip.conf file?
Thanks in advance!

Hi,
I'm hoping to re-install the hotfix image currently installed on HD1.1
I receive the following error when i issue the "image2disk --instslot=1.1 --nosaveconfig Hotfix-BIGIP-10.2.1-511.0-HF3.iso" command
info: Repository tm_install version/release is 2.6.4/25.0
info: System tm_install version/release is 2.6.4/24.0
info: Updating system tm_install files from Hotfix-BIGIP-10.2.1-511.0-HF3.iso

info: Running updated installer.
Terminal error: SVM (Software Volume Management) is available, and this is not a format request.
Please use SVM, or include '--force' if you are sure you want to proceed.
Will I need to first install the base 10.2.1 image and then apply the hotfix, or can I go ahead with the hotfix install by including "--hotfix" or "--force" ?
A switchboot -l reports the following:

just to be clear, for rather annoying and complicated reasons I would like to perform a clean install of the hotfix image on hd1.1. I will then re-apply the base configuration and sync the configs for VIPs, etc from the active unit.
I have both the base image iso and the hf iso available to me in /shared/images. - nitass

I receive the following error when i issue the "image2disk --instslot=1.1 --nosaveconfig Hotfix-BIGIP-10.2.1-511.0-HF3.iso" command you cannot install software/hotfix on current active partition. i understand you were on hd1.1, so you cannot install on hd1.1. by the way, isn't it --instslot=HD1.1?
Will I need to first install the base 10.2.1 image and then apply the hotfix, or can I go ahead with the hotfix install by including "--hotfix" or "--force" ?i am not sure about image2disk command but b software or tmsh install sys command will automatically install base software for us (when specifying hotfix) and then hotfix. - nitass

Hi Nitass,
Your last suggestion sounds like the best option. I'm trying to get a process down in our lab, so I can then proceed with the production work. The process of switching over to hd1.2, deleting the current install on hd1.1 and then reinstalling the hf install sounds like the best option.
Thanks again fro your help. - nitass

you are welcome. this is tmsh command i used in 11.2.1.
(tmsh) delete sys software volume HD1.2
(tmsh) install sys software hotfix ... volume HD1.2 create-volume
hope this helps.
