IDS

I am contemplating using LTM to replicate traffic and pass it to an IDS system, as described in " Sol13392: Configuring the BIG-IP system to send traffic to an intrusion detection system (11.x)".

 

My questions are:

 

- Has anybody tried this?

 

- Are there any existing nasty bugs/traps in this feature that I should guard against?

 

- What's the impact of this feature on LTM's performance?

    I believe this feature is used fairly frequently and 'just works' as long as it's used as intended. I'm not aware of any performance impacts but as I've never actually used Clone Pools and base this purely based on my experiences here on DC I may be wrong. Can anyone else comment?
