Apr 01, 2009I have a violation "Unknow level parameter" even if i have correctly defined it. Why?
Hi,
i have some problem with the "Illegal Parameter" violation.
My configuration is:
Parameter 1 - User Input Value - Parameter Level
[HTTPS] /bla/bla/*/?la
Parameter 1 - User Input Value - Parameter Level
[HTTPS] /bla2/bla2/bla2/?la
and this is the same for about 7 parameters.
Until today this configuration didn't have any problem.
This afternoon, instead, F5 has blocked many requests that were absolutely Legal.
The requests had these 7 parameters that weren't matching with their rules and i didn't understand why.
Looking at the violation section i have seen the log and the detail of error, which was "Unknown level Parameter".
Please note that we aren't getting this problem with the second parameter level(
[HTTPS] /bla2/bla2/bla2/?la) but only for the first one [HTTPS] /bla/bla/*/?la.
We performed some test changing the parameter level, changing the order of Parameter definition, inserting an explicit object and deleting a wildcard ... but the problem hasn't been resolved.
Afterwards, while we were creating (once again) one of the parameters, the problem suddenly disappeared but not only for the "new" parameter... for all.
After about 5 minutes, the problem came back again.
Currently we don't have the problem.
By tests performed the problem seem to be completely random but i hope that it isn't that way...
I need a solution as this problem can generate a DoS.
Can you help me please?
Thank you and sorry for my english, i hope that i haven't done too much confusion.
Bye
