CirrocumulusProxyPass iRule works fine for this. If your datagroup is setup correctly, then your internal URL will be re-written as the external URL. If it's not working, check that the entries in the DG are correct. There's additional debugging flags you can set in it too if required. Especially look around the streams setup for the re-writing.
