how to upgrade LTM VE from v11.2.1 to 11.4.1

Do I have to upgrade it "from within" or do I have to install a fresh 11.4.1 VE and import the configuration? Is there any issue with licensing (especially when performing a new install)? Thanks in a...

I've done it from v11.3.x to v11.4.x with few problems; I don't believe there were any significant architectural changes with VE between those versions.

 

I do however, think v11.3 included quite a few over v11.2 and earlier and that being the case I'd recommend you start fresh.

 

If you do (you could always ignore me and try) you WILL need to call F5 support to allow the license to be activated on a new 'platform' (the new vm) and you should factor this into any timings you consider/state around how long the change will take.

 

Also note that VMX3NET vNICs are used with v11.3 onwards which I don't think was the case with earlier versions. <
