how to send HTTP 301 redirect to client

Running BigIP version 4.5.12 and by default it sends a HTTP 302 to client when using a redirect on fallback host. Need to send HTTP 301 to client instead. Can this be done with an irule - and if so, what is the syntax or an example of what it would look like.

We need the ability to rewrite the HTTP headers of a response code to a 301 before doing the redirection. Search Engines look more favorably on “301 Moved” redirects vs. 302 forward redirects to maintain the search rankings.

Unfortunately, in version 4.x of BIG-IP, you won't be able to rewrite anything in the response to the client, as it is not a full-proxy. If you need to perform this kind of rewrite, you'd need to upgrade to BIG-IP version 9.x.
