How to find the rest of a registration key?
Hi all. I am trying to find the complete registration key for some recently purchased second hand F5 equipment.
I have sent in the serial numbers and received the license summary information for each box which includes the 'License Serial Key' (the last segment of the registration key).
But after hours of searching the forums and AskF5, nowhere could I find where I obtain the first part of the registration key.
I have used the command line on one of the boxes. I don’t have:
. tmsh
. /config/bigip.conf
. /config/bigip.license
. /config/RegKey.license
. In the /config directory the word “Registration” only appears in BigDB.dat and does not contain the key.
The boxes are:
F5-BIG-LTM-6400 BIG-IP SWITCH: LOCAL TRAFFIC MANAGER 6400
F5-BIG-LTM-3400 BIG-IP SWITCH: LOCAL TRAFFIC MANAGER 3400
If anyone could enlighten me on how to find the first part of the registration key and the first part of any add on keys it would be very much appreciated.
Many thanks. Peter Baum, Sydney, Australia

Hi Peter,
Which first part are you referring to?
In the past, I've contacted F5 support and provided them the serial number/s and they have given me the base reg keys.

Hi Ryan and thanks for taking the time to answer my question.
When inputting serial numbers into the online F5 Product Information Request form at https://secure.f5.com/validate/validate.jsp
It only returns the last segment of Registration Key. So I only get the AAAAAAA of the XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-AAAAAAA
I figured there must be a way to figure it out without bothering support, but it looks like I am headed down that road.
Thanks again for your input.
Regards, Peter Baum
