How to change AVR Subject via SMTP

Hi Guys,

I want to know if there is way to change the subject if I use AVR reporting that sent through SMTP? Usual subject are "BIG-IP Application Visibility Report". Since I have 3 pairs of F5 in 3 DC, its kind of hard to be able to differentiate between tem.

Thanks!

  • I see no way to modify the subject, but you should be able to have unique hostnames per DC. You configure your SMTP server under System -> Configuration -> Device -> SMTP

Just configure the 'From Address' to be something unique to each DC.

  • Hi Cory,

My from address are already unique. It still shown as BIG-IP Reporter. Is it because of the SMTP server?

  • If you have a unique 'from address' and 'local host name' configured for each BIG-IP device per data center, then it should work as expected. It could be that your SMTP server is renaming the sender to 'BIG-IP Reporter', but the source email address should be what is specified in the SMTP config on the BIG-IP. Can you verify this?

  • I think you right. The sender email already use the device hostname. I think I need to talk with the Mail guy.

    Thanks Cory.
