How much delay can F5 bigip SSL Vip has when compared with direct access of the SSL hosted server ?
Does any know the approximate value of, How much delay can F5 bigip SSL Vip has when compared with direct access of the SSL hosted server ?
case1 : https://vip.test.com (bigip Alias configured with server1) case2 : https://server1.test.com

Hi Sam,
I would strongly depend on the detailed configuration of your box.
If you deploy lots of iRules to process and manipulate the requests/responses and also heavily make use of commands which are suspending the ongoing transaction to get information back from external sources (e.g triggering DNS/LDAP queries on every request), then it could add some noticable delay. On the other hand if you offload / cache certain responses on your box it may actually lower the delay and also help your internal server to process the remaining responses faster.
And in any other case a single or two millisecond(s) added overhead would be already very much...
