How many times to reboot for install software?
Hi
How many times to reboot for install software images? From this information
-------------------------------------------------------
Sys::Software Status
Volume Product Version Build Active Status
--------------------------------------------------------
HD1.1 BIG-IP 10.2.1 511.0 yes complete
HD1.2 BIG-IP 10.2.1 511.0 no complete
HD1.3 none none none no complete
I want to upgrade into 10.2.4 HF5 on HD1.2 volume (or must both volume??)
First I install 10.2.4 Final into HD1.2 and reboot into HD1.2 , and then reboot again into HD1.1 to install 10.2.4 HF5 into HD1.2 and reboot into HD1.2 to use 10.2.4 , Am I correct? (Reboot 3 times)
Do you have better solutions ? like install 10.2.4 and install HF5 respectively and then reboot only once times. (Reboot 1 times)
Another questions is what impact if I backup ucs from 11.2.1 HF1 and restore in 11.2.1 HF2 ?
thank you

what is volume containing configuration you want to use on 10.2.4?
if hd1.1, boot into hd1.1 and just install 10.2.4 hf5 into hd1.2. you do not need to install 10.2.4 first. just install hf5. 10.2.4 will be installed automatically. configuration in hd1.1 will be rolled forward to hd1.2 by default.
hope this helps. - nitass

That installatoin method doesn't work any more (Certainly not in v11, I think it used to in v10, because I used to do the same, but it's probably not supported there either). You have to install the Base first without a reboot, THEN install the HF onto the newly installed base.If you rely on LTM to install the base itself by only installing the HF direct, you usually get a failure pointing at a SOL note that says you failed because you're running Partitions... And various strange erros about runningout of space etc...
