How do you check if my bigip was forced offline or entered into failover

Hi all,

I have a question, How do you check if my bigip was forced offline or entered into failover? This is in the ltm log? How do I see in F5 Web?

tks

  • On WebUI, you can see it by differents ways.

The first one would be to open a browser on management page, it will print the status next to the F5 icon on left top corner.

The second way you can have it if you are on a cluster, is in devices parameters. For example, you are on the active member and you want to know the status of the other member.

Go to the other device parameter, and you will see in Status if it's offline, or forced offline.

  • Login to GUI of the box. Left hand top most corner, you see the f5 logo. The status is shown either offline or forced offline respective to the mode.

  • I understand this, I wonder if my f5 reboot or changed to standby a few hours ago. tks

  • If you mean to ask what triggered the failover, it needs to be checked from the logs (whether manual or system on its own triggered the failover). If you manually forced to be offline, the status shows that forced offline.

  • In the logs from GUI. Click System - > 1. Packet Filter 2. Local Traffic 3. Audit.

And CLI directories are /var/log/messages, /var/log/ltm, to check the logs.
