How do i know how many Virtual Servers my LTM can support at the maximun.
Thank-you.
Edouard, First, there is no technical limit to the number of virtual servers you can have on any platform. With that said, at a certain point the WebUI starts to become slow and eventually unusable if the config grows too big. Two things will affect the amount of virtual servers your LTM can support; CPU speed and number of configuration objects.
Most platforms can easily handle 20000 config objects. Each virtual server will likely have a pool, a couple of profiles, maybe SSL profile, nodes, etc. So one virtual server will likely include 5 to 7 total config objects. Divide 7 by 20000 and you're looking at about 3000 virtual servers. however, the more config objects the longer it takes to save the config each time you make a change.
Larger platforms like the 5200 and above can handle much more, 100,000 - 150,000 config objects. But again, it may take 30 seconds or more to save the config each time you make a change.
Also, note that the size of the config does NOT affect data plane traffic. Hope that answers your question.
