High availability SharePoint with F5
Hi,
Our F5 configuration was set up by network team and so far everything seems to be working. We have 2 x Web servers in the app pool but I can't really verify if F5 is, 1. load balancing SharePoint, 2. providing high availability for our environment.
The other day I've had to reboot one of the web servers so I took that opportunity to test HA, to my surprise it wasn't working. I was hitting the web server that was rebooting. I was told by network guy that he set F5 up according to Deployment Guide version 3.2 - Deploying the BIG-IP system v11 with MS SharePoint 2010 and 2013. The configuration was created using iApp.
I don't have access to F5 but I need to verify a setting(s) for HA if there's one. Can anyone please help me with this as I need to go back to the network team and point this out?
Many thanks.

- mikeshimkus_111Historic F5 AccountHi James, can you check that the Action on Service Down option on the SharePoint LTM pool is set to "Reject"? This will send a reset to the client as soon as the pool member is marked down. I see that the iApp is not setting that as it should.
thanks

I would also look at the health monitor's interval and timeout setting, it could be a big value. If the interval is 30 seconds, chances are the timeout is 91 seconds, which means it wont mark it down for over a minute and half! You might want to finetune that a bit, to a lower acceptable value for your environment.
