Health Monitor

I have a question regarding health monitoring , is it possible to monitor servers by let F5 login using username and password instead of checking IP state or http string , can someone help with steps if doable ?

    Create external monitor script(bash or perl) to login server with username/password & monitor based on the return string. Not tried HTTP but ssh & ftp works well for me.
