you can use a custom http monitor, "GET /index.html". you have to look for a static text in the html page to apply the status of the node. for example, title of the page or a html tag, '', etc. Look up here - http://support.f5.com/kb/en-us/products/big-ip_ltm/manuals/product/ltm_configuration_guide_10_0_0/ltm_monitors.html1209612
