HA for f5
Hi All,
For hardware 5250v do we have dedicated interface for config sync and connection mirroring? We are not using vcmp feature currently and will be using all 8 cpu for production traffic.
Also since this is vcmp box so I think this doesn't support serial fail over?
Thanks.

The unit supports vCMP, but if you not running vCMP is like any other unit.
Here is the platform guide for 5000 series: https://support.f5.com/content/kb/en-us/products/big-ip_ltm/manuals/product/platform-b5000/_jcr_content/pdfAttach/download/file.res/Platform_Guide__5000_Series.pdf
The unit has RJ45 port for failover, and that can be used. As far as I know, the only unit that does not support hardware failover is VIPRION (but it does have failover port :P).
This solution have all information you may need about configsync and mirroring options. https://support.f5.com/kb/en-us/solutions/public/14000/100/sol14135.html

Thank Leonardo, this helps.a
So when we use rj45 as failover so this needs to be connected via crossover or straight cable directly?
Also since this interface doesn't show up in gui so we need to do any special config on cli or gui?
thank you for your help in advance.

You can use a straight through cable. The interface will show up under Network --> Interfaces
You can use Copper or Fiber. Copper will suffice.

I guess the comment from Shaun was referring to a normal interface, not the failover interface. The failover interface is not visible in the interface list neither via GUI or CLI, I also double check in 3600 unit.
The hardware failover only uses cable signal, there is no layer2/3 information, so no need to configure an IP.
You need a special cable, or just make one. As you can see in this solution, you need a crossover cable with pins 7 and 8 changed:

There is also this solution that talks about a better cable:

This solution explains network failover and hardware failover:

Depends on the hardware version. Older, yes they needed a serial cable. Newer devices do not need a serial cable.

I had this exact box -- Correct, it does not have serial fail-over.
