GTM marks virtual server down
There are other virtual servers on the LTM which the GTM correctly indentifies as up. This is no firewall in the mix and I can ping the LTM virtual that the GTM is marking as down.

Those messages indicate that the health check between your GTM and LTM isn't working. If there's no firewall or access control in the mix, could it be routing related? Do both boxes have routes (non management) to each other? - Hamish

Does iqdump from the GTM server to the LTM show traffic? (I suspect yes, because you have other VS's showing as up). If so, the comms are fine. I've had this incessently between GTM and LTM (Including co-hosted GTM/LTM). There's a nasty bug that's fixed in 11.2.1HF3 where big3d doesn't bother to send the VIP messages back to gtmd. In addition I've had this where VS's aren't members of any traffic groups or device-groups. And a funny one where VIP messages WERE being sent, but gtmd just decided they weren't being recieved for some reason... Not sure why that one went away (I eventually changed the Data Centre Objects associated with the Servers the VS's were members of and it all sprang into life... Again...).
Currently I'm all OK on 11.2.1HF2-ENG29... (HF3 has all the fixes except one for APM that I run though, and I havent' trued 11.3 yet for GTM issues).

I have also had issues similar to this where the issue was the version of http being used for the monitor. Had to force the monitor to use version 1.0 to make the monitor work. The version of http needed is determined by the app being monitored, not the F5 device. - Hamish

If it's the same as mine, the monitor is literally just bigip... And only set on the servers itself, not individually by VS.

Thanks Hamish! That was it. The VIP on the LTM was NOT a member of a traffic group. We added it to the traffic group and voila success. Thanks again!
