Sep 20, 2007GTM loses connection to LTM once a day
In our network we have a redundant pair of LTMs and a couple of GTMs. Once a day GTMs report this problem:
Sep 19 14:07:05 gtm02 gtmd[10913]: 011ae019:4: Closing idle connection to LTM_IP_Address
After that GTM disables all WideIPs that depend on Virtual Servers from that LTM. In 5 seconds connection gets restored and WideIPs get enabled. What could be the reason for this problem?

Not sure why that would happen, but I'd assume the network path between the 2 devices was temporarily interrupted, preventing iQuery communication long enough for the GTM to think the LTM dropped off the net.
You might want to open a Support case to get a better idea what would trigger that error message, and whether there are other symptoms you could be looking for to further define the issue.
Otherwise I guess you'd have to catch the event in a packet trace. Which could be pretty easy if it happens predictably...

I don't think that this is a network issues because only one of two GTMs reports problem at the same moment. And the problem fixes by itself in 3 seconds. - Serge_Dubrouski

And yes so far it happens once a day but not every day. - lisa_127723Historic F5 AccountWhat version of GTM are you running?

The problem disappeared after increasing "Probe Timeout" fot BigIP monitor from 1s to 3s.
