Jul 30, 2009GTM IQuery Address Change
Hi We have a couple of GTMS running in Sync Groups & polling LTMS for virtual servers. Everything is working smoothly but for some reason its been decided to change IQUREY addressing between all GTMS/LTMS.
Understand once this is done Sync groups will break & so will be the IQUERY communication between LTM<>GTM. I just want to know is there a standard/safe procedure of doing this especially adding the GTMS back into Sync Groups with new address space.
How i have done during install was to configure 1 GTM at the Data Centre & then add the other GTM using gtm_add command so it copies all the configuration. Now both GTMS have got the config is there any other way? a bit confused as once ip add will change need to do gtm_add to make GTMs join the sync group.
Below is a snipped of message i get.
********************************************************************************
[root@gtm1:Active] config gtm_add
WARNING: Running this script will wipe out the current configuration
files (wideip.conf, named.conf and named zone files) on the BIG-IP GTM
Controller on which this script is run. The configuration will be
replaced with the configuration of the remote BIG-IP GTM Controller
in the specified sync group
The local BIG-IP GTM MUST already be added in the configuration of the
other GTM.
Are you absolutely sure you want to do this? [y/n] n

Best way to do this is to take all the members except the one you are going to change out of the sync group, make the changes you need to make on one device, including updating the other GTM server IP locally. Once that GTM looks completely right, do the gtm_add from the other unit and you should be good to go.
