GTM Dynamic Ratios with LTM Virtual Servers
This is the first question I've been asked by an application team for which I could not find an answer on Dev Central, so I hope someone can assist.
We have two data centers, GTM monitors 1 VS in each DC.
- VS1 in DC1 has two nodes
- VS2 in DC2 has one node
- Application team wants 99% of traffic to VS1 and 1% of traffic to VS2 (no problem, can use ratios)
If one node goes down for VS1, is there any way to dynamically have GTM send 50% of traffic to VS1 (one remaining node) and 50% of traffic to VS2? I know this can be done manually by changing the ratios, but is there a way to have it done automatically?
Thanks in advance for any ideas!

A single GTM has an A record for VS1 and VS2.

--Note: In your explanation you say GTM sending traffic. To understand; traffic does not flow through the GTM. The GTM just serves DNS records.

You need to center your thoughts around the LTM and using a Ratio / iRule to do the magic. Writing an iRule is out of my realm. ha! I'm a script kiddie. :) I will still try and research this for you! --Others may chime in, with a quicker answer.
