FQDN pool member

Hi Everyone,

I created pool based on fqdns, serevers are accessible using and

Pool: sp_pool_fqnd

pool member: mkti12sp1 port 80 and mkti12sp2 port 80

But it cannot be created properly, the error says its invalid host name

but from big ip's cli i can ping and reach mkti12sp2 and mkti12sp2 respectively.

I already added dns servers and domain name. are there something I need to do more?

  • The config is simply screening for a properly formed FQDN, not a short name.

    ex. mkti12sp2.domain.com

  • Doesn't matter. The creation of an FQDN-based pool member requires a properly formatted FQDN. It doesn't matter if the BIG-IP can resolve the short name. The utility doesn't allow you to create it with the short name. And the health monitor has nothing to do with this.
