Jun 26, 2010F5 Smtp Load balancing
Hello friends,
I have 3900 Bigip Ltm load balancer with BIG-IP 10.1.0 Build 3341.0 Final on it.
I am trying to do smtp load balancing. I created nodes, create pool, create virtual servers, made a monitor and always shows green light too.
All works pefrectly. The problem is after 20 minutes, Vserver ip does not respond and close any telnet or netcat connection. But pool, nodes all up and working.
on web gui i choose vserver section then change anysetting and it start to respond again. Even i change the setting back it keeps respond then after some time like 20 minutes or 30 minutes. It stops dispatching connection to nodes again.
Portscan or netcat telnet and ethernet sniffing port is on at vserver pool ip,
but it doesnot dispatch it to nodes rather then close the connection.
any ideas?

Hi,
The only thing I can think of with this is that there is a bad ARP entry or something that would prevent the TCP connection attempts from reaching LTM. If you run a tcpdump while the failure occurs, do you see any packets reaching LTM for the VS address?
Regardless, I think you'll need to open a case with F5 Support on this to get help diagnosing the issue. They'll want to see a tech.out from the unit and tcpdump traces captured at the time of a failure.

Hi,
As you can see on the screenshot taken, tcpdump output shows clearly that it accepts the tcp connection but does not dispatch it to nodes.ScreenShot
