F5 LTM hardware failover port issue
I have configured F5 in active-standby mode and they are running 12.1.2 version, I have configured Fail-over with VLAN interface and Management interface, also i have put hardware failover cable between two unit (RJ45 crossover cable connected to Failover Port).
Now i want to check whether my
Failover
hardware port is in-use or not, following command output showing.
root@(F5-1-mgmt)(cfg-sync In Sync)(Active)(/Common)(tmos) show sys failover cable
cable state 0
for testing i have unplugged cable and check status still its showing
cable state 0
?? is that correct behavior?
also what if my VLAN trunk failed in that case how does failover will work ?
cable state 0 ?? is that correct behavior?
show sys failover ? Options: cable Displays the status that the failover daemon detects on the serial cable from its failover peer. It also shows what the failover peer detects on the serial cable. An active BIG-IP will see a zero from its failover peer. A standby BIG-IP will see a one from its failover peer.
cable state 0 is normal behavior but if you unplug the cable you should see "cable state unset"
also what if my VLAN trunk failed in that case how does failover will work ?
You must enable vlan failsafe to detect vlans failures.
