F5 GTM and self-ip
Wanted to know the difference in role of a self-ip between an LTM and a GTM. In an LTM, self-ip is used as a gateway to send traffic to a network based on the subnet mask. And for a network to be used on the LTM it's vlan has to be extended to one of the interfaces. But what role does the self-ip exactly play in case of a GTM? Is it one of the self-ips that answers a DNS query?

Let me rephrase my question.... What is role self-ips play in a GTM? Are they important in polling the servers for health and does a GTM also answer DNS queries using the self-ips?

1) Self-ip is required for iQuery connections
2) BIND is listening on self-ip. If your dns listener does not use self-ip you will not be able to use BIND if required.
3) Self-ip is used for GTM related monitors
