F5 Configuration BackUp through SolarWinds NPM

Hi Team,

 

There is a requirement to take the configuration backup of F5 via the SolarWinds NPM. We are also looking for a User role in F5 that gives the SolarWinds least privilege (Not the full Admin rights) to just take the backup. How could this be implemented? And for this requirement, should we go for UCS file or CLI Output backup (show running-config all-properties).

 

Please help !!

    I do not know SolarWinds NPM, do they have some integration with BIG-IP? If not then they'll likely need advanced shell access to initiate SFTP.

     

    Definitely go for the UCS. I'm pretty sure you'll miss out on certificates and a lot of ASM/non-ltm-modules if you make do with CLI output. You can create a script to create a new archive every evening. Then add it to /shared and create a link to it in cron.daily
