f5 ASM tracking user - session_id attribute in logs are not unique
I was hoping there was a way to track a user from the time they visited a website until they left/logged out. We turned on logging and was hoping the provided session_id attribute in the ASM logging would provide this information, however, we found out that the session_id values are not unique how do you go about assigning a unique value to user sessions so that they can be tracked in the logs? Thanks!

This may require using multiple values or setting specific Cookies. Can you provide an example of the session_id values not being unique and any additional questions regarding the scenario you are trying to implement.

Do you want to track users who log in to your ASM-protected website using username/password? Do you have Login pages configured? In such case you should be able to track users by username from the moment they login till they log out using ASM. Check out this article on how to configure this feature:
In case if you are talking about website visitors (e.g. anyone, not necessarily a logged on user) ASM will not help. You can do it using an iRule setting a tracking cookie. See this DevCentral thread for a sample iRule:
