What Im trying to figure out is that we want to create a sideband iRule that will active PRIOR to a http auth. The basic premise is that when a request comes in, send a packet to to a side server and look for the following:
Send request to
String - UserID/Name Return Boolean return of: yes or no NO

- Sounds doable to me. What do you mean by http auth and why do you think the irule wouldn't be able to run before it?

You can use the irule policy agent event within the VPE. You can add it whenever you want in your authentication workflow

Why aren't you using a http auth box for this sideband connection?
I did it for a customer who wanted to validate on a Airwatch API Server if the mobile ID was known before allowing requests.
If the HTTP auth server options are not compatible with your API server, create a dedicated VS to rewrite HTTP Auth request with expected values.
