Sep 03, 2008Execute a shell script based on messages in LTM log.
Is there a way that within the F5 to have a shell script execute on the F5 base on no members being available in a pool.
What we have is that every time our application group deploys a update to the application we need to delete all entries in ramcache. Right now this means somebody with admin access to the F5 must login and delete it. Now, when they do a deploy they shutdown all servers in the pool, so we do get the message in the LTM log that there are no members in the pool up.
What I would like to do is when there are no members available in a pool that a shell script gets kicked off. In the shell script I would delete the appropriate ramcache entries based on the pool name.
I don't want to trigger something from outside of the F5 because that means I have to store a user-id and password someplace.
Is this possible?

I don't know if this can be done, but I think you can create a monitor that executes a external script which can check to see if a pool member is down you could probably write a shell script to delete the ramcache. I don't believe this doesn't have to be limited to shell script but can use perl script as well.
