Editing VIP/Pool/Profile Names

Hello,   im wondering why it isnt possible to edit VIP Names or Pool names after i created them. is there a technical reason behind it?   Thank you for clarifying, Greetings Maximilian Martin ...

Hi,

There is no straight forward solution to rename object created by F5 (profil, node, vs, pool, ...). It's on design by F5.

when I need to modify an object name, I do it in the bigip.conf file, ot do it:

  • connect in F5 using CLI.- backup the bigip.conf file: 
    cp /config/bigip.conf /config/bigip.conf.old
  • edit the file and modify the object you want. just be carefull for specific usecase. example: if you modifiy VS name you have to modifiy juste one row but if you modify pool name you have to do 2 modifications (pool name object and pool name in VS settings).
  • save file.
  • then enter the following command in order to load configuration: 
    tmsh load sys config
