Editing sharepoint documents through APM
Hi, I am having an issue when editing sharepoint microsoft documents through my F5 APM setup. If I open them on the inside of my network, I am asked if I want to open in edit or read only mode. If I access using the F5 APM I am asked to open with default application or save the document. Seems that I recall reading somewhere these is a way to control this behavior, but am unable to find that information again.
Anyone have thoughts on this?
Thanks, Danny

I'd first try adding the URL to the external browser's trusted sites list (the browsers going through APM). I've seen this anomalous behavior with SharePoint before, and that seemed to resolve it.

Not working on outside coming in through F5:
Working as expected from inside of network:

From the research I've been doing, it seems that this behavior is tied to a microsoft sharepoint IE add-in called "SharePoint OpenDocuments Class" (OWSSUPP.DLL). Just wondering how going through APM might affect how this add-in operates. dg

Does anyone use the LTm/APM as a reverse proxy with SSO into their Sharepoint servers and allow users to open microsoft documents? If so, do you have any issues?
Thanks, DG

Hmm... Not sure this is relevant, but here is an interesting article from Microsoft concerning rewrite: Supportability of Rewrite and Redirects with SharePoint 2007/2010/2013
This doesn't sound good...

I'm working on this now, I'm doing the exact same thing. The weird thing about SharePoint is the following factors matter: Operating System Browser and Trusted Site Version of Office Sometime settings in document library * Opening documents in the Browser * Version -> Require Check Out (I have seen different behavior if checked Yes) The other thing to look at is are the credentials getting back to SharePoint when you try to open the document. One issue is that when you open a document in Office it establishes a new connection back to SharePoint. This is why when people are not on their corp network or computer they are prompted for credentials again. Right now I'm trying out cookie based persistence. This all assume that you are using NTLM or Kerberos.

Just an update.. But I would up using the iAPP and am now running using LTM+APM mode. This seemed to resolve my editing issues. However, a new issue has been introduced concerning links to other apps on the sharepoint page. If I select a link to another SP site, I am presented with an invalid site as the link is not translated to the address of my VIP.
Thoughts?

So you're now using native LTM+APM mode now, and not portal rewrite mode, correct? Can I also assume the other SP site has a completely different URL host? Do you host this SP app?

Correct, not using portal rewrite mode and other Sp site has a different URL. We do host the second SP app. Actually, I have that SP site setup in our F5 exactly the same way as my other SP app. Both sites are setup for different sets of users. One site, the one I am having issues with links, is considered the employee site with links to the other SP site.
So using the old way of portal rewrite, my URL links change to the main URL coming through the F5 and work. Even though other issues with SP occur. Using the LTM+APM mode, my links keep their original URL names and don't work, but my other SP issues go away. Hoping there is a way around this. Looking at the documentation that came with the iAPP, they talk about SSL bridging, not really using SSL on these links, but just wondering if I need to look more closely at what is being accomplished with SSL bridging.
Thoughts? Thanks, Danny

Hi,
Anyone got it working ? We use the latest iapp v1.0.0 in LTM only mode on 11.4.1 HF2, and we also get read-only documents.
