I have a (Hopefully short term) requirement to push a pair of HA'ed F5's about 13km apart as the fibre goes... I've done it before in the 3-4km range using LX SFP's in the fibre ports over dark fibre for the primary HA link... But 13km is a bit too far for them.
Will DWDM SFP's work in an F5 (3400)? The platform guide only lists SX & LX SFP's...
Failing that, does anyone know of a reliable ethernet to DWDM media converter?
TIA
Hamish.

I don't know about the first half but should you need to go for plan B here are some suggestions:
Assuming I read DWDM correctly as "We use SONET/SDH"... ADC makes a product called Loopstar that encapsulates Ethernet and sends it over SONET.

Also, Engage Communications makes a device, called the IP-Tube E^2, that will easily tunnel Ethernet over IP (if you have a VPN between the connections).

Thanks.
I found some cisco SFP transponders (media converters)... A Gb SFP in one side (Copper or fibre), and a DWDM optical in the other, then straight into the DWDM multiplexer and away you go.
