Domain Based Filtering for a Virtual Server

Hello All,

My client asked to do DNS Based Filtering for a Virtual Server. For example Virtual Server Configured in F5 will be accessible only from some specific domain from Internet world. For specifically , lets say if traffic is coming from msn.com then Virtual Server will be accessible otherwise it will not be accessible.

How can I do this ? Can you share some clue ? Note that my F5 has LTM, APM module running on it.

  • You would have to figure out the IP addresses that belong to msn.com and use an iRule like this to allow communication. Another option is to be able to check any specific header value to allow communication.

Hi IP address / ranges changes periodically which might make the iRule ineffective , is there anything I can do based on domain names ?
