Disk partition var has only 9% free

Hello, I'm getting an "Disk partition var has only 9% free" error message when I SSH into my APM and would like to see it go away. After running a "find -type f | xargs du | sort -rn" command, I have discovered that the largest files are:

/var/lib/mysql/ib_logfile0
/var/lib/mysql/ib_logfile1

Any idea what those files are for and how best to shrink/remove them? I did find a significant amount of debug options set in the logging, which have been turned down. That might have created them?

Thanks, -Mike

Are you sure you are looking at the right partition?

For /var/lib/mysql has a partition/volume to itself, and /var is on a different partition/volume. You might want to remove some old ucs files in /var/local/ucs, if there are lots of them there.
